These high performance switchers provide nominal 8 ohm impedance to the amplifier, receiver for protection against the typical damage that occurs when powering low impedance loads. 4 pairs (SW4SPKR) or 8 pairs (SW8SPKR) of speakers can be safely connected to a single stereo output from an amplifier or receiver. Individual on/off switches for each speaker pair allow for the greatest in flexibility. These units also work as “switching stations” to control all the speakers in a multi-room system from a central location. To maintain individual volume controls over each pair of speakers, one heavy-duty AUTOFORMER type control per speaker pair should be used. These volume controls must be wired in-line between the switcher and the speakers. A minimum speaker cable of 16 gauge id recommended. Professional installers prefer the barrier terminal construction to the “quick-connect” type due to its superior contact reliability and connection speed. Heavy duty metal cases and high-grade circuit boards further improve the longevity of these units.
